Flavor of the week #49

Balam Acab
www.myspace.com/thebalamacab
( ;D --> Balam Acab, like Salem and oOoOO, traverse the same shadowy territories that seem at once sensual and unnerving. Balam Acab creates something akin to Burial being slowly drowned in an ocean of drone, a cybernetic limbo haunted by distant machine moans, those trademark ghostly digi-diva vocals positively lost in another world all together. Influences: feelings, vibes, souls, spirits, nature, essences. Sounds Like:fear, nostalgia, bliss, sadness, euphoria, beauty, peace, dreams, loneliness, longing, a removal of all the layers that aren't until the one which is has been found, i want you to get lost...)

( ;D --> Kode9 (born Steve Goodman in Glasgow, Scotland) is a London-based electronic music artist, DJ, and owner of the Hyperdub record label. An MC, The Spaceape, is a frequent collaborator. Initially inspired by what he calls the "hardcore continuum", he also draws on dub reggae, and was one of the founding members of the early dubstep scene (which he views as a continuation of developments originally stemming from UK Hardcore). He appeared on the Grime compilation on Rephlex, and released the full-length album Memories of the Future (featuring the Spaceape) on his own label Hyperdub. Kode9 has a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Warwick and has published a book, Sonic Warfare: Sound, Affect, and the Ecology of Fear.)

Jamie Anderson (Deepgroove)
www.myspace.com/djjamieanderson
( ;D --> There are few electronic music lovers that haven’t already heard Jamie Anderson’s work. He has proved himself as a long-term force to be reckoned within the dance music scene, not only through his own broad spectrum of production talents across the colours of dance music. Jamie perfectly combines the grooving subtleties of house with the twisted funk of techno. Additionally Jamie can be found producing under various pseudonyms with other artists lining up to work and be part of his productions and collaborations. He has joined forces to work on studio projects with artists such as Jesse Rose, Owain K, Jerome, Louis Osbourne, Deepgroove and Switch.)

Thy Veils

http://thyveils.com/
( ;D --> Thy Veils (Daniel Dorobantu) is an ambient neoclassical experimental music project from Timisoara. "To listen and listen again to this admirable musical surprise evokes names like Black Tape for a Blue Girl or Arcana, even though Thy Veils lacks voice interpretation. But the luxuriance has always been present, as well as the diversity, the purity of the sound, the clarity of it all.)
